1. How Do I Contact You For Emergencies?

The York office may be contacted 7 days a week, 24 hours per day by dialing (717) 741-9063. During the week, the York office is open and taking telephone calls from 8:00am until 8:30pm. If you have a medical emergency, you may choose option 9 and inform the nurse or receptionist that you have a medical emergency. You may follow these directions on Saturdays from 8:30am until 12noon.  The Shrewsbury office may be contacted 5 days a week by dialing (717) 235-6848.  The Shrewsbury office is open and taking telephone calls from 8:00am until 4:00pm.  After 4:00pm all calls to the Shrewsbury office will be forwarded to the York Office until 8:30pm.

After hours, Shrewsbury and York office patients may reach our physician on call by dialing the office number at (717) 741-9063 and asking the answering service to have him/her paged.

2. What If I Have Questions of a Non-Life threatening Nature?

Any questions you may have regarding the care of your child/children will be answered for you by one of our Pediatricians or Registered Nurses. You may call the York office with your concerns at (717) 741-9063, Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 8:30pm and on Saturdays from 8:30am until 12noon.  A Pediatrician is available in the Shrewsbury office Monday thru Friday 8:30am thru 4:00pm.   Please give your child's name, date of birth and telephone number, along with a brief explanation of your concern. There may be a delay in returning your call, because we prioritize our callbacks so that the most seriously ill child is taken care of first. Many of the calls to our York office will be returned by one of our Registered Nurses. Our Pediatricians will also return calls to parents in between seeing patients throughout the day and evening. Please make every effort to keep your phone clear until the doctor or nurse returns your call. If you know you will be unavailable to receive a call during a specific period of time, please be sure and let us know.

It is helpful to have paper, pen and your pharmacy telephone number available when asking us for advice about an illness.

And Saturdays, from 8:30am until 12 noon.  Our regular Shrewsbury office hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00am until 4:00pm.   Patients are seen by appointment only. 4. How Do I Get A Prescription Filled?

Routine prescriptions and refills are issued on a daily basis. Please make your prescription refill calls during regular office hours. We ask that you call 24 hours in advance for prescription refills. York office patients may call for a prescription refill by dialing the main office number at (717) 741-9063 and then choose option 4.  The Shrewsbury office does not have an automated system.  Please call (717) 235-6848 Monday thru Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm.   Please have available the child's name, date of birth, name of the medication to be refilled and the instructions from the previous bottle. You will also need to have the name and telephone number of the pharmacy that you want the prescription called to.

We do not prescribe antibiotics over the telephone. If an antibiotic is needed, an appointment is required. Refills for controlled substances such as Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall and Dexadrine require a written prescription and must be picked up at the office.

If you have any questions regarding which medication refill requires an appointment, please ask for a return call from the Registered Nurse.

5. How Are Referrals To Specialists Handled by Your Practice?

Given the many insurance options available, we ask you to become familiar with the coverage and regulations of your family's insurance plan. If your insurance carrier requires a referral from your Pediatrician in order to see a specialist, we ask you to contact the office at least 72 hours in advance of your desired specialist appointment date to assure adequate time to process your referral. Please be aware, it may take longer for some insurance companies to authorize the referral.
